M. Eshwariah Early Life

Introspective, inspired, innovative, self-effacing, generous, original... these are a few ways of defining the Late Sri M. Eshwariah. He has lived a life dedicated to the muse of art and quitely passed on higher creative realms.

Parents of M. Eshwariah

M. Eshwariah born in a Blacksmith’s family to Moosaramthota Narayana and Agamma. The family used to run a workshop to make and repair chariots/ buggies during the Nizam’s reign. He grew up in a joint-hindu-family. His father was greatly respected among the Vishwakarma community. Although being associated to a big family, the artist always found himself alone. He does his schooling in Viveka Vardhani School, at Jam Bagh, Koti.

He used to visit his cousin sister’s house in Ameerpet during his school holidays. An Artist from Maharastra used to be a tenant at his cousin sister’s house. A frequent interaction with the artist has developed an interest towards art in him. He was an average student in his academics. At an early age, he learned sign board painting from the artist.

After completing PUC, he went for Indian Navy Academy Selection at Bombay (now Mumbai). He got rejected because of his under-weight personality. Dejected, he come back to the Maharastrian artist, and continued doing sign-board painting. He encouraged him to join JNTU Fine Arts College. There he got admission into Applied Arts rather than Fine Arts.

To meet the expenses involved in learning art, he used to work at his father’s workshop until his father demise in 1963.
